Native American Reservation

The Feather & Stone Exchange is designed as a pilgrimage and service opportunity for WFU students to work with families at the San Carlos Apache Reservation in San Carlos, Arizona in June of each year. 

REL 288 (50595) for Summer Session One with a max enrollment of 15.

Course Description:

This field course will allow students who participate in the San Carlos community engagement program to pursue a research topic related to San Carlos community needs by utilizing project based learning strategies.

Students will meet once before the trip (April 16th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, room tba) to design their research project and begin their work. While in San Carlos, students will gather additional data and participate in a round table with community members to discuss their research in progress. The instructor will be available during the trip to work with students one on one.

To complete the field course, students will submit their research project electronically and in hard copy (by mail) to Prof. Wiethaus no later than June 25th, 5:00 pm.
